I used to say: yoga looks really easy, because it seems to be slow. As an up-tempo cardio sportslover oef that was a big mistake. Because when I started yoga, and I loved it immediately by the way, I found out it was quit hard. The strength you need in your core, doing push-ups, I was sweating. But then I figured out it's not about power at al! My sign in the life that I need to soften, relax, slow down. Yoga on your mat is a way to reconnect with yourself on a deeper level. The real yoga practice starts when you go off your mat. It's a way of life, not just the asanas.
So no, yoga is not easy. But not in the way you are thinking of it right now. Because yoga is not about doing the asanas in a perfect way, like you are looking really flexible and skinny and stuff. NO! It is easy thinking about it in that way, because all it takes if for you to start and practice. And with practice comes change. Easy right?
But the lifestyle of a yogi is another level. And that is the philosophy behind the asanas. I am not motivating you to be a yogi. I am inviting you to start practicing yoga on the mat. It is a wellness good way to listen to your body, do a good workout, build memory muscles and overall rewire your brain slowing down and honoring your peace.
Regardless of age, body type, or flexibility. You don’t need to be able to touch your toes or hold a headstand. Yoga meets you where you are. It strengthens the body, calms the mind, and brings balance into your daily life. Regular practice:
- reduces stress
- improves sleep
- supports digestion
- boosts immunity
- increases your emotional resilience.
But beyond the physical and mental benefits, yoga teaches presence. In a world of distractions, that’s a radical act. You learn to listen to your breath, your body, your inner voice. And in that listening, you begin to heal.
1. Start small. Even 10 minutes a day can change your life. You don’t need fancy gear just a mat and an open mind.
2. Choose your style. Try a few different classes like gentle Hatha, flowing Vinyasa, or grounding Yin to find what suits your body and energy. Not sure where to start? In our workbook REMIX Your Inner Algorithm you'll find different styles that will match your archetype. It includes a quiz to check which archetype you are. Also it describes how and why to start with yoga.
3. Use online resources. There are plenty of free YouTube classes and beginner-friendly platforms to guide you step-by-step. a big recommendation is the classes of Boho Beautiful. Their mission is to bring free yoga to the world. They have loads of nice and divers classes on YouTube where hey I've you practical guidance and inspiring ambiences.
4. Focus on how it feels, not how it looks. Yoga isn’t about performance, it’s about connection.
5. Be consistent, not perfect. A little every day is better than a lot once a week.
You don’t have to be “spiritual” to practice yoga. You just need the willingness to show up, breathe, and be present. That’s where transformation begins one breath, one stretch, one moment at a time.
